Save the filter once. The whole team gets the view.
Build a filtered view of your contacts, leads, or opportunities from field/operator/value rules, preview the matching records live, then save it as a segment every teammate can open.
Segments is GENECRM's saved-views workbench. Pick an entity — contacts, leads, or opportunities — stack up filter rules (a field, an operator, a value, combined with AND), and hit Preview to see the exact records that match before you commit to anything. Save the view and it becomes a named segment visible to your whole workspace from the segments rail, so there's no colleague's filter to rebuild from a screenshot. The same field/operator/value language powers automation-rule conditions and campaign audiences, so a segment speaks the same targeting your rules and sends already use.
Build a view from filter rules
A segment is a stack of clauses — a field, an operator, and a value — evaluated against your live data and combined with AND. Add as many rows as you need; each one narrows the result further.
- Operators cover equals, not-equals, greater/less-than, contains, starts-with, in-list, and is-empty / is-not-empty
- Filter on a standard field, or on a custom field with the custom_fields.<key> accessor
- Clauses are combined with AND, so every rule must match for a record to appear
Preview before you save
Hit Preview and GENECRM runs the filter against your live records and lists the matches right there, with a total count — so you know a segment does what you intended before it ever gets a name.
- Preview runs an ad-hoc filter without saving anything
- Matches come back with a running total count
- Switch the entity or edit a rule and re-preview instantly
Saved segments are shared by default
Saving a view creates a segment that's visible to your entire workspace, flagged with a Shared badge in the segments rail. Open one to re-run it against current data — a view one person builds is instantly usable by the whole team.
- Every saved segment is shared across the workspace
- Re-open a segment any time to see its live matches, not a frozen snapshot
- Each segment records which entity it targets and how many rules it carries
One filter language, reused everywhere
The field/operator/value language behind segments is the same one that drives automation-rule conditions and defines a campaign's audience — so describing 'contacts where kind = prospect' is identical whether you're saving a view, writing an automation, or targeting a send.
- Automation rules evaluate the same clauses to decide when to fire
- Campaign audiences are described with the same field/operator/value syntax
- Learn it once and it carries across the platform
- A shared 'hot leads' view every SDR opens instead of re-filtering the inbox
- Preview exactly who a filter matches before building a campaign around it
- A saved view of opportunities above a value threshold for a weekly pipeline review
- Segment contacts on a custom field your workspace added, with no code
Segments — common questions
Contacts, leads, and opportunities. Pick one on the Segments page, build your filter, and preview the matches before saving.
Yes — Preview runs the filter against your live records and lists the matches with a total count, without saving anything. Save only once it looks right.
Everyone in your workspace. Saved segments are shared by default and appear in the shared segments rail with a Shared badge, so a view one person builds is usable by the whole team.
With AND. Every clause you add has to match for a record to be included, so each rule narrows the result further.
Yes — segments use the same field/operator/value filter language as automation-rule conditions and campaign audiences, so the targeting you define carries across the platform.
